I’m leaving for the Peace Corps soon and want to take some money with me. I’m going to Turkmenistan and they don’t accept US money there. I went to my bank and they don’t have Manat (The Turkmen money). I also went to 2 different currency exchange and they don’t have any either. Turkmenistan won’t take travelers checks or credit cards and the Peace Corps suggested I go to my bank but like I said they didn’t have any. Any suggestions?

I heard i’s a ‘closed’ currency so converting it to gbp here in the uk is difficult. I have some left over tunisian cash from my travels that is worth up to £45 that I want to exchange…. where can I do that in the UK? I tried a currency exchange bureau and dthey said they dont accept tunisian… do banks do it? if so which ones?

I’m from San Diego, California and my aunt visiting me from England just gave me 50 pounds. I checked a currency calculator and it’s about $79-$80 USD. I’m totally new to foreign currencies since I haven’t traveled internationally yet. Is there something I should look for when searching for places to exchange currency? Also, more specifically, does anyone know where in San Diego it would be good for me to get the most out of my exchange?

I just found a big wad of money I saved from my previous visit to Switzerland. I live in a small city and I am not exactly sure where I can go to convert my money.

Also, is there a possiblity that I don’t actually have to go anywhere but instead send this wad of money to whomever so they can exchange it for US dollars and mail me back with the converted sum?
