How to exchange currency at the airport?

I stumbled across some foreign currency (euros and british pounds) and i also have some spare time so i decided to go the airport to exchange it. But is there any special protocol im suppose to follow to change it ex. go through security, show id etc.

no protocol. you dont have to go through security, make sure you go to the international terminal though it should be by the ticket agents desks rxing

Don’t worry about going through security. You will not be allowed through unless you have a ticket to leave.
There is a map of the terminal at the Reagan Airport website. It’s difficult to read because it’s too small, but it looks like there is a currency exchange near the check-in counters. The map can be found here:
Before you go, keep in mind that it’s not worth the time and trouble if you have only a small amount of currency. You’ll have to pay an exchange fee and a commission. Also, they will not accept coins - paper currency only. If you only have, for example, $10 worth of pounds, the fees and commissions will eat up much of that. The Shadow
