Lancs Lass asked: I want to put a sterling cheque into my account but the currency conversion rate (AUS $) is lousy at the moment. Where can I find out about forecasted rates written in language I understand. Should I wait a little longer or should I just take the plunge and pay it in now? A 0.1% increase would make several $100 difference.

Mick asked: Just wondering why the crisis in the US is getting worse and the value of the dollar on foreign exchange is going up. Something stinks in the state of Denmark.
.
Who creates foreign exchange rates? Please be specific. Thanks
I do understand that demand and supply determine it. Just wondering demand and supplly from who! And who sets the final ratio.

the one 1 asked: I am trying to understand the importance of foreign currency exchange rates. Why would economists care that today the dollar converts to x amount of Chinese currency for example? Also why would economist care that today the dollar is stronger or weaker in the same day in different countries such as China, Japan or others?
I am just using those countries as examples, nothing special. I really would like to know.
Thanks in advance

Fady Y. S. asked:
How can the currency exchange rates be calculated? and on which parameters does it depend?
For example, Kwaiti Dinar has the highest currency value (1 Kuwaiti Dinar = 3.79176 U.S. Dollars), does that mean Kwait’s economy is stronger than the U.S.? or the exchange rates are measured upon factors other than economy?!

Chris B asked:
The US Dollar is declining in value against the British Pound and the Euro, but the decline versus the Euro is greater.
If US interest rates are reset lower, I am told that the value of the Dollar versus the other currencies declines further.
These exchange rates are calculated to four decimal places, indicating significant precision.
If the Chinese Yuan is set higher than it currently is, what will that do to the Dollar versus the Pound and the Euro?

♣Vincent♣ asked: The system of currency exchange rates has always facsinated me.
I could have $100, convert it into ₤49.34, then convert it back the next day to $101. Why do currency rates have to change every day?
Is this somehow helping the economy? Or is it hurting it?

ks asked:
I’m going to Thailand and want to exchange some US dollars for Thai Baht before I leave. However, the Travelex currency exchange rates say that $1=28 baht, whereas most websites online say $1=33 or 34 baht. And banks charge a bunch of fees to have the currency shipped to them. I was wondering where is the best place to exchange currency in San Francisco that has better exchange rates? or should I just change it in Thailand?
