Where is the best place to exchange currency — near White Plains or Tarrytown, New York or possibly in NYC?
truelori asked:
I heard the best place to exchange currency is a bank. We took our Swiss Francs to HSBC where we have an account and got a terrible exchange rate! I’m trying to find somewhere else where we could take our cash and get a decent rate. Any suggestions on where to go or how to find a place (yes, I’ve already done a whole bunch of Google searches)

In the US Banks are often the worst place. On top of that most banks charge more if it is in actual foreign notes, vs check form
usually the American express office in most u.s cities is the best for a net final amount exchange of foreign currency notes into dollars.
Also you obviously don’t have to use our own bank.
Call four banks in our area. tell them the amount and type of currency and ask each is the net amount after all rates AND fees. call your local amex travel office and as the same! the more money, the more research you should do. fd N
