Where is the best place to exchange currency?
kez.1983 asked:
Im going to Morocco in two weeks (marrakech) and i needed to know the best place to exchange my currency from British pound to the moroccan currency. Can i do this in any travel agent? And also i read somewhere that u cant import money ( i thought this meant i can only change the currency once i arrived in Morocco) is this true? If it is where can i change my money in Morocco??
Will be flying out and back . Hoping to return to Morocco on a regular basis.

What I am aware of is that you can only change it in Morocco, you can’t change it anywhere else as the Moroccan currency available only in Morocco. Once you arrive you can change your money at any Bank. Casablanca

The airport has a window, and banks can trade. You can import money, of course, the more money the merrier for Morocco. You can’t export Moroccan DH, has to be traded back before you leave. Patti

A monetary unit in Morocco is a Dirham. Banks, hotels, shops has the same rate of exchange ( no difference ). But in the last few years a lot of change agencies openned in the whole country . These lasts give a little bit more. And as you can’t take Dirhams out of the country (not considered as a foreign currency yet ) try to change a little by little. Ahmed

hi,i have read most of the answers and in essence they are all right and wrong, firstly it depends how you are going and returning and do you intend to go back within a few years
the moroccon is a restricted currency this means you can not trade in this money outside morrocco.this is a misnomer
in tarifa there are several places to change to euros which is better than sterling also in algecerias, when you land if flying do not use the bank at the airport, make sure you have euros 1/2 euro coins and a supply off 5 euro notes.they will all take euros but remeber they will want what they can see(and more)
there are no exceptions to this rule .in fact the more official a person is the more he expects some (coffe money) for the smallest of service
there are exceptions but few and far between.
take a cirrus validated card with you and withdraw as you need
all banks are regulated and issue recipts with the exchange details
some atms which change according to the euro rate at the time may not function try different named banks trust noone MYLASTREQUEST.IE
